Yummy DIY Sugar Lip Scrub

Get yummy, soft, kissable lips by making and using your own tasty sugar lip scrub.  We all experience dry, chapped lips. Help them out with this easy lip scrub recipe. You probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry and it only takes 5 mins, if that, to make.

Sugar lip scrub

Unlike the rest of our skin, our lips have no oil or sweat glands that help to keep them moisturized, because of this it’s important to give them attention and love. When it comes to skin most people have daily routines of cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, toning and more. Why not for our lips too?

More often than not though, we forget about one of our softest,  most pleasurable parts on our bodies – our lips. We may apply Lip Balm  or chapstick on them when they are chapped or to prevent dryness, but we rarely think about giving them their own routine or attention. On top of that, certain lipsticks can end up drying out your lips even more. So take a few minutes, if only once a week, and give yourself some lip treatment. Your lips will love you for it.

Coconut Oil

Ingredients:

A Tablespoon of sugar (either brown or white or do a combo of both)

A dash of honey or a bit of coconut oil  (again you can use both if you prefer)

A drop or two of Vanilla extract

vanilla beans

Preparation:

In a small bowl, throughly mix all of the ingredients together. You want to make sure the sugar is nicely coated with either the honey or oil. You can always add more if needed. The sugar should be “wet” enough to easily roll between your fingers without the sugar crumbling and falling loosely off. Store your mixture into a small container of choice.

How To Use :

Wet your lips with warm water. With either your fingers or a specifically designated toothbrush (you can usually find pretty inexpensive ones and they work great in getting that extra level of exfoliation) gently rub the sugar scrub on lips in small circular motions for about 30 seconds or so. I like to let it sit on my lips afterwards for another half a minute to really let the honey or coconut oil hydrate my lips. Rinse your lips with warm water and follow with your favorite lip balm.

*Please note if your lips are extremely dry or chapped you may want to use only your finger and scrub for a shorter amount of time.

Variations:

Some people will add a little ground coffee into their mixture for a plumping effect.

Add a dash of cinnamon

Add a drop or two of peppermint essential oil instead of the vanilla
