A Sweet Full Moon Tradition for Children

Tonight is the Harvest moon or depending on where you live it will be visible tomorrow night. The harvest moon is the first full moon after the autumn equinox and was so called because before electricity farmers would stay up, working late into the night harvesting their crops by only the light of the moon.

I was talking about this with a friend of mine when she told me of a sweet full moon tradition she does with her children. Now, I don’t have children but I do have a niece and nephew and plan on doing this with them some full moon night in the near future.

She explained to me that she has told her children of the full moon fairy. The full moon fairy comes out only during the full moon and if children leave their shoes outside under the moonlight the fairy will visit their house. Leaving behind for them crystals and gemstones as little blessings of luck and love.

I thought this was a great full moon tradition to start and do with your children. And it is no wonder the full moon fairy leaves crystals and gemstones either. The full moon charges and cleans stones, renewing them with fresh, clean energy. So it is also a good night to set out your crystals for a nice recharging if you have any.

Unfortunately she didn’t really know the origin of it, or if it really has one. It was something her mother did with her, that she now does with her children. I think it is quite brilliant and fun for kids. I will do some research to see if I can find an origin, or if you have ever heard of this before or something similar please do share!

So tonight don’t forget to set out your crystals and gemstones for some natural, magic charging and for your little ones their shoes…to be filled with new stones of love, hope and beauty.

Happy Harvest Moon!! Much Abundance to All!
