Pumpkin Pie Sugar Body Scrub Recipe
So when I came across a body scrub that included pumpkin while providing me with the opportunity of smelling as spicy and delicious as a pumpkin pie I had to try it out.
One of the best parts of this pumpkin pie sugar body scrub recipe is that it calls for pretty much the same ingredients as making a pumpkin pie. So if you are planning on baking one than you can easily make this along with it.
PUMPKIN PIE SUGAR BODY SCRUB RECIPE
1 cup Granulated Sugar – you can also use brown sugar or even sugar in the raw.
1/4 cup Oil – often times recipes will call for olive oil which works however I used coconut oil because it is wonderful for the skin and the outcome of using it in this recipe was wonderful. I got both the light exfoliation and moisturizer all in one. Also coconut oil has a great scent within itself. If you only have olive oil though that will work fine or even pumpkin seed oil, grape seed oil or almond oil. I wouldn’t recommend using a vegetable oil.
1/4 cup Pumpkin Puree – either canned or making your own works. I used canned myself and it worked great.
Spices
1/8 tsp. ground Nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground Cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ground Cloves
1/8 tsp. ground Allspice
1/8 tsp. ground Ginger
If you don’t have all the spices listed don’t worry, you can use as many of them as you would like, just double up one to make up for the subtracted – just pick your favorite spice.
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix everything together and store in a container. Yup it is that easy.
NOTES AND TIPS
This recipe makes more than enough for one full body scrub, I actually found it to be enough for three to four. Because this is perishable and contains no preservatives you need to use it within 3-4 days and keep any unused portions in the refrigerator.
I put enough in a plastic container for the shower and the rest in the fridge, that way I could just pull enough of the product out for when I needed it.
ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS
Beyond the pumpkin being great for your skin and the sugar helping to scrub away those dead skin cells, the spices themselves have skin benefits too.
Nutmeg – is anti-inflammatory and helps in reducing acne scars and blemishes
Ginger – assists in anti-aging and is anti-inflammatory as well
Cinnamon – brings blood and oxygen to the surface of the skin, helps reduce acne
Clove – helps reduce acne
All Spice – Creates blood circulation for a brighter complexion
Pretty great all around! You get to make a pumpkin pie and spoil yourself with an all natural, skin beneficial sugar body scrub. My skin felt amazing after using it and the coconut oil did such a good job of moisturizing I didn’t even need to put on lotion afterwards. Of course you can, but if you are rushing out the door and don’t have time to slather on a great lotion your skin will still feel and look fabulous.
Happy making pumpkin pie and its pumpkin pie sugar body scrub companion!
