A Patchwork Dress With Amazing Hand Stitched Details
This gorgeous viscose long sleeve patchwork dress by Jayli is full of wonderful hand stitched details. I love wearing dresses that are colorful during the colder months and patchwork is a favorite of mine too, so I was instantly drawn to this one.
One of the reason Jayli’s Hippie Clothing is a favorite of ours here at Go Hippie Chic is that beyond, of course, great designs, they support wonderful artisans and women in Nepal. They employ (fairly and ethically) an amazing women’s co-op in Kathmandu, thereby supporting women’s independence in Nepal. These women, who are expected to play the traditional roles of wives and mothers are also able to contribute to the family income by doing handiwork part-time. You can read more about their work with the women’s co-op here.
About The Design :
There are so many pieces of work that go into creating this beautiful piece. The dress is first sewn together in patches. It is then sent to be stonewashed and over dyed which gives the fabric a faded and vintage look and feel, but also makes the colors consistent. The razor cutting is then done on two panels to give it an edgy look. Finally, the women of the co-op do the hand stitching which gives it an artisan feel.
How They Style It :
They love to pair this dress with leggings or stockings and boots, a pair of funky earrings and a cool handbag.
Why We Love It :
We love to add color to our winter wardrobe and this dress not only does that, but it has fabulous detail. It has a great fit and it is comfortable to boot. Finally, not only will you look great wearing it, but you will feel great too, knowing you are supporting an amazing group of women in Kathmandu and assisting in their independence.
