5 Tips For Going Green
Saving Money On Your Energy Bills While Being More Environmentally Conscious.
1/ If you aren’t home, use a window covering. Your house will stay cool and you won’t use as much energy this way. Usually the windows with the most sun are the one’s which face south. Window coverings such as roller shades, roman shades or dark curtains can be used on all windows.
2/ One way to be environmentally friendly is to only run the dishwasher when it is completely full. Don’t run it when there are a low number of dishes present. The dishwasher can actually fit a lot of dishes when loaded correctly. Try your best to align your dishes properly so that you maximize your space in your dishwasher, play Tetris with your dishwasher.
3/ If you are charging products within your home, use smart green ideas to conserve energy by unplugging these devices when you are done. Even when they are fully charged, these units still consume energy and cost you money. So unplug them when they are finished, and save some energy and money.
4/ Seal any air leaks in your home. Air leakage, or infiltration typically occurs when the outside air enters your house uncontrollably via openings and cracks. You can properly seal these openings and cracks via sealant or weatherstripping. This greatly reduces cooling and heating costs, betters your building’s durability, and helps you maintain a healthier home environment.
5/ Take the time to dry your clothes naturally. The dryer in your home takes up a lot of energy and it is quite simple to just hang your clothes and allow them to air dry. If you do need to use the dryer, then be sure to clean out the lint to help it work more efficiently.
